Regimen
I am adapting Dubaidee4c’s method of the max hydratio method. After doing an initial clarification/chelation and an initial Cherry Lola Caramel Treatment, the regimen entails alternating every 4 days between clay washing and water only washing. The hair is styled as a wash and go (gel applied over a spritz). On nonwash days, the hair is refreshed as need be.
Some things I will do a little differently: I plan to cleanse every four days with 22nd Century Natural Shampoo bar as my cleansing pre-detangler and with fermented rice water soap as my dedicated cleanser. I will alternate weeks between doing a moisturizing DC and a moisturizing protein treatment. Finally, I will sometimes style in a twist out. I’m looking for a great twisting product. I am eyeing the new Mane Choice Tropical Moringa glaze for trialing. 😀

Regimen
NOTE: I alternate between Week A and Week B, and I alternate between Day A and a string of Day B’s.
Night and Day A
- At night, detangle on dry then damp hair using Soultanicals Slip-N-Slide Knot-Proof Hair Glide and Soultanicals Knot Dressing Oil to do the “Funnel Method” of detangling (see YouTube)
- That same night, dry hair completely, then apply Komaza Protein Hair Strengthener following the bottle’s directions. DO NOT MANIPULATE THE HAIR (could cause breakage!).
- That same night, dry hair completely, then apply Shea Moisture’s Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Masque. Steam the DC in or wear a processing cap (30 minutes) and don either a thermal conditioning cap or sit under the dryer (30 minutes)
- That same night, install 8 twists into the hair, rinsing out the DC with cool water (do NOT, NOT, NOT DC overnight, based on my decision about information I learned from the Green Beauty YouTube channel). Pin the twists around the head to stretch them. Spray edges with Netwurks Revitalizing Spray. Don processing cap and bonnet and go to sleep.
- The next morning: Apply Netwurks Revitalizing Spray to edges. Style hair either as a ponytailed braid-out (heavily protect ends with moisture and gel) or a stretched wash-and-go, the latter following Onicia Muller’s technique on YouTube (see embedded video below).
Night and Day B
- At night: Apply Netwurks Revitalizing Spray to edges. With an Ouchless band, ponytail hair (if it’s not already). Place another Ouchless band on the end of the ponytail (to prevent tangle overnight). Don processing cap and bonnet and go to sleep.
- The next morning: Simply refresh style.
Week B: Repeat Week A except OMIT the Komaza protein treatment.
Styling
- Signature style: pony-tailed twist-out with bangs or tendrils
- Secondary style: stretched wash-and-go created via the technique below
